Your back and its function as the central nervous system has a role in all your body functions. Your nervous system is protected by and interacts with your vertebrae in a manner represented here.

The backbone to the right will link you to a page explaining more about that vertebra and its effect upon your body by you clicking upon a labeled button. Each vertebra affects various parts of the body but, as the parts of the body work together (i.e. lungs and heart), all the vertebrae work to keep your back, body, and nervous system functioning correctly
  • The section ending with "C" is the Cervical Spine or Neck area. Head, Neck, Arms, and Shoulders are areas effected by this section of the nervous system. Possible symptoms are headaches (this includes migraines, aches or pains at the back of the head, behind the eyes or in the temples, tensions across the forehead, throbbing or pulsating discomfort at the top or back of the head), jaw aches, dizziness, pain in the back of neck and soreness in shoulders.
  • The "T" section is the Thoracic Spine (Mid-Back). Many of your organs are affected by the region. Middle and mid-back pain usually originates from here. The heart, lungs, thyroid, liver, gall bladder, stomach, pancreas, spleen, adrenal glands, kidneys, and large & small intestine trouble and malfunctioning are possible symptoms originating from the Thoracic Spine.
  • The "L" section is the Lumbar Spine (lower back). The intestines, sex organs, prostate gland, lower back, and legs are area affected. The infamous "lower back pain" usually originates from here.
  • Sacrum & Coccyx (Pelvis). Pain or soreness in the hip bones, buttocks, rectum, and anus and problems affecting them are possible symptoms arising from this area.
